I fished with my old friend Ladd Ojala, His friend Bill and Bills dad. Ladd and I guided together on the Chairman II back in the early 1990's. Bob Jornlin, Ladd and I made in quite a threesome back then.
We stopped on a favorite reef from the old days and there were some fish shallow in 20 feet of water. Bill's dad set a hook on a nice 20" walleye, we caught a couple more and they disappeared. We traveled east down the lake and each reef was more of the same, see them catch two or three and they would scatter. We caught sixteen or seventeen walleyes, three releasers, a few keepers and some shore lunch fish.
We had a great shorelunch and fished our way back home. Shame on me for not taking photo's. It was really a nice time fishing with Ladd and his friends. It gives you a good feeling to see some one who worked his way through college guiding with us. Ladd is very successful in business and is a triathlete in his spar time!
The storm that went through definitely had an effect on the fish. I am off on July 4th, in Duluth on July 5th and back on the water to fish and shoot a TV show with James Holst, host of IN Depth Outdoors.
